Student Captive Portal Instructions

The process will need to be completed each time WIFI is accessed outside of school.


Students will first authenticate using the Captive Portal Web Clip (looks like an app on the school issued iPad), logging in with their school Google account.


The process will need to be completed EACH time WiFi is accessed outside of school. Although the captive portal screen may appear when an app is launched, the authentication will only work through Safari.


If there is no web clip, students should launch Safari and enter the URL of a website not associated with school, such as cnn.com, wthr.com, and etc.


This is the Captive Portal screen:

Students should tap on the blue "Google" button.

At the Google login screen, enter school email password [firstname_lastname_gradyear@nobl.k12.in.us] and school password. The account information will not need to be entered during subsequent authentications, but the student will need to select the school account on the login screen.

Once this information is entered, the ‘Activating’ screen will appear.

Once activated, the student will be able to access websites and apps at home. The activation period is four [4] hours; after that time, the student will be prompted to activate again.


Remember these key points about the authentication process:

  1. Use Safari to authenticate.
  2. Login with your school Google [email account].
  3. Authentication will last four [4] hours.
  4. The student will need to authenticate EACH time he/she needs WiFi access outside of school.
