Setup




  • What are the appropriate ranges to scan for at each of the buildings?

Common Tasks




  • Drag and Drop Files between computers




  • Rename a Computer

ARD Commands and scripts (user should always be root)….




  • To force a filewave client verify sudo fwcontrol client restart - user: root




  • To login on a computer with login and password




  • To login on a computer where user is selected and then prompted for password




  • To change local users passwords  (this will done by district via Filewave)




  • To Repair Disk Permissions (Machine cannot go to sleep. Can keep machine on “Observe” in ARD)




  • Open Application by Script: open /Applications/Online\ Assessment/Online\ Assessment.app




    (Drag Application into Terminal to get full command).  User should be set as “root”




  • How to use previously used scripts and commands - Go to history




  • How to Close an Application remotely - killall appname




    (command will not “kill” the applications that ask to save)




  • How to Force Quit an Application remotely - killall -9 appname

Verify Client


sudo fwcontrol client restart - user: root






Creating a Student Account


dscl . -create /Users/student


dscl . -create /Users/student UserShell /bin/bash


dscl . -create /Users/student RealName "student"


dscl . -create /Users/student UniqueID 510


dscl . -create /Users/student PrimaryGroupID 20


dscl . -create /Users/student NFSHomeDirectory /Users/student


dscl . -passwd /Users/student student




Using ARD:


-Launch ARD


-Highlight units to receive command


-Select Manage/Send UNIX command from menu bar


-Paste script in "Send UNIX command location"


-Run the command as "root" user


-Should have a computer/list of computer identified


-Choose "Send"




The computers will need to be restarted to create the student user.








Turn off wifi controller --   sudo ifconfig en1 down


Turn on wifi controller --   sudo ifconfig en1 up
