How to use home WIFI on school device

Due to ongoing issues, we have turned off Captive Portal authentication. Students will still be filtered by our filter while working from home, but they will no longer sign in to the captive portal. Students should no longer be prompted to sign-in and they do not need to click the captive portal bookmark.

Update 3/19/2020: A Noblesville parent reported issues using the Circle device to filter school iPad at home.

Update 4/13/2020: Additional internet options have been provided for families. Resources can be found by clicking this document, Internet options during extended eLearning for COVID-19 document

Basic Troubleshooting Steps if apps or online items are not working

1. If you receive an error or slowness, refresh the browser by selecting the circle with the arrow to the right of the URL. This may need to be completed several times. If that does not resolve the issue, please continue to work through the steps below.

2. Update iPad Software (if already updated, go to Step 3)

3. Close all open applications (double click the home button, use a finger to swipe up on each open application)

4. Grades 4-12 iPad - Turn OFF "Request Desktop Website" (Go to Settings - Safari - open Request Desktop Website - Slide Off). Grades K-3 will not have this option.

5. Clear Web Browser History (Stay in Settings - Safari - Clear History).

6. Make sure Pop-up Blockers are OFF (Stay in Settings - Safari - Block Pop-ups - Toggle OFF)

7. Complete a hard restart (hold home & power button at the same time, letting go once the iPad turns black and Apple logo appears)

As a workaround, Grades K-3 students can access resources in Safari. First ensure the student is logged in to Google, next visit our Clever link, https://clever.com/in/noblesville, and access Seesaw. If students are still receiving the “restricted” message, they can press the “Sign in” button and the videos should appear. They may need to sign in again, but it should hold for future videos.

Broken iPad Instructions

If you or your student have a damaged iPad and are unable to complete assigned schoolwork on a different home or school device, please complete this form.

  • Keyboard issues (Grades 4-12) - Please ensure the iPad's software is up to date. Keyboard issues can also be fixed by plugging in the device to a charging and completing a hard restart on the iPad (hold the home and power button until the iPad powers off, letting go when the Apple logo appears). If this does not fix the issue, please use the touch pad for typing and keep the keyboard on iPad to keep the device secure. We will communication on a time for keyboard replacements in the near future.
  • Charging issues - Student iPads that are not holding a charge, please use while plugged into a power source when completing school work. We will re-evaluate the iPad after we return to school. You can also troubleshoot by plugging the iPad into a charger and then completing a hard restart (hold home & power button at the same time, letting go once the iPad turns black and Apple logo appears). On my daughters I pad the captive portal takes up to the noblesville schools homepage. We did try turning it off and back on with no changes to the problem.
